Factores materno-infantiles asociados a anemia ferropénica en infantes de 6 a 36 meses en Perú durante el año 2019

Introducción: La anemia ferropénica se considera un grave problema de salud
pública en el Perú, además de que existen diversos factores que han sido
estudiados y sobre ellos se han elaborado diversas estrategias y planes
nacionales para intervenir y reducir esta alta prevalencia que sigue siendo
permanente en el tiempo, debemos de considerar la asociación de otros factores
materno infantiles involucrados potencialmente en el desarrollo de esta
enfermedad.
Objetivos: Determinar los factores materno-infantiles asociados a la anemia
ferropénica en infantes de 6 a 36 meses en Perú durante el año 2019.
Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional, analítico y
retrospectivo mediante el análisis de la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud
Familiar del periodo 2019. Se utilizaron razones de prevalencia (RP). Para el
análisis estadístico se utilizó SPSS v25 y STATA considerando un IC 95%.
Resultados: Los factores de riesgo asociados a anemia ferropénica fueron: vivir
en la región sierra (RP:1.39 IC 1.24-1.55 p<0.000), vivir en la región selva
(RP:1.23 IC 1.1029-1.37 p<0.000), presentar diarrea (RP:1.16 IC 1.09-1.25
p<0.000) y ser pobre (RP:1.29 IC1.20-1.38 p<0.000).
Conclusión: La prevalencia de anemia encontrada fue alta. Vivir en las regiones
de la sierra y selva; ser pobre y el haber tenido diarrea en las últimas dos
semanas estuvieron asociadas significativamente a la anemia en niños peruanos
menores de 36 meses.
