El tema del siguiente trabajo surge a raíz de la necesidad de lograr una integración entre los Pantanos de Villa y la ciudad. Lima posee pocas zonas naturales reservadas y los Pantanos de Villa es quizá la única área natural en el casco urbano que presenta vida silvestre. Durante las últimas décadas, la ciudad de Lima ha venido creciendo hacia la zona sur y la zona aledaña a los pantanos de villa no ha sido la excepción. Estos terrenos han venido siendo lotizados, utilizándolos como viviendas e industrias, cambiando radicalmente el perfil de la zona. Uno de los casos más escandalosos fue el de la fábrica Lucchetti, la cual construyó un edificio que representa hasta la actualidad una amenaza hacia la vida silvestre de los pantanos. Otras industrias también se han asentado en el lugar incumpliendo toda norma municipal vigente. La densidad poblacional de la zona también trajo consecuencias negativas hacia los pantanos de villa, disminuyéndolo en área para así poder construir viviendas, pistas y veredas. En los últimos años hubo una sensibilización de parte de los vecinos y autoridades en cuanto a la preservación de estos pantanos y los recursos naturales que contiene, pero hasta la fecha no se ha concretado obra alguna que beneficie o mejore la zona aledaña a los pantanos y que proteja la vida natural que en ella se desarrolla. Este humedal constituye un laboratorio para la investigación científica y representa un gran potencial turístico por la belleza de sus paisajes. Sin embargo la poca infraestructura turística con la que cuenta no ha ayudado a promover la zona como destino turístico. El presente trabajo plantea la reconversión en el uso de esta zona, más acorde con el área a estudiar, logrando así un ambiente ideal donde puedan confluir el ciudadano y la naturaleza.
