Factores epidemiológico-clínicos asociados a la severidad de los síntomas prostáticos en adultos mayores de 40 años. Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo 2019
Abstract
OBJETIVO: Determinar los factores asociados a la severidad de los síntomas prostáticos en adultos mayores de 40 años atendidos en el Servicio de Urología en el Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo 2019.
METODOLOGÍA: Es un estudio observacional, analítico, prospectivo y transversal. Se incluyeron a 151 pacientes atendidos en el Servicio de Urología. La prueba estadística para relacionar variables cualitativas fue la de Chi-Cuadrado. Se utilizó el programa SPSS v.24.
RESULTADOS: La mayoría de los pacientes perteneció al grupo etario de 60 a 79 años (58.9%), fueron casados (49%), tenían instrucción secundaria (47.7%), ocupación inestable (42.4%) y tenían sobrepeso (41.7%), el principal hábito nocivo fue el alcoholismo (13.91%), la principal comorbilidad fue la hipertensión (20.5%) y el 27.8% tuvo antecedentes de familiares con patologías prostáticas. Los factores asociados a la severidad de los síntomas prostáticos fueron: edad ≥ 60 años (p=0.002, OR=3.718, IC95%=1.583-8.733) y desocupación (p=0.009, OR=2.552, IC95%=1.254-5.192).
CONCLUSIÓN: Se determinó que los factores asociados significativamente a la severidad de los síntomas prostáticos fueron la edad y ocupación en los pacientes atendidos en el Servicio de Urología del Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo, donde los adultos ≥ 60 años de edad y sin ocupación presentaron mayor riesgo de severidad de los síntomas prostáticos.
